Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas with DILG IV-A highlights community-centered programs, initiatives

Calauan, Laguna-The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) IV-A showcase their feats together with their various line agencies including the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) IV-A, Bureau of Fire Protection IV-A, and Philippine National Police Regional Office IV-A during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on Tuesday, July 30 held at the Municipal Conference Hall of Calauan, Laguna.

Highlighted points include:

• 37 LGU’s in Calabarzon passed the Seal of Good Local Governance in 2023

• Started the Seal of Good Local Governance Barangay Level in  2024

• 128 compliant LGUs in new business permit application

• 129 compliant LGUs in processing building permits

• Creation of local people’s council composed of recognized civil society organizations by the LGU

• 31 Barangays conducted the Kalinisan (Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan) where 11 million kilograms of waste are collected

• 77 LGUs passed the functionality assessment on Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence against women and their children (LCAT-VAWC)

• 933 Barangay Violence Against Women (VAW) desks institutionalized

• DILG IV-A received the GAD SEAL for their best practices in gender and development

• 591% decongestion rate for jails compared to C.Y. 2023 rate of 676%

• Inauguration and Blessing of the Jail Reformatory Center

• 6th place in Fire Prevention Month Activities 2023-2024

• BJMP IV-A RD hailed as Best Regional Director of the Year

These agencies are committed in their efforts to strengthen and development of local government units for more peaceful and safe communities in the CALABARZON region.(PIA 4-A)

Laguna PDRRMO holds Incident Command System Position Course

  The Laguna Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) headed by Mr. Aldwin M. Cejo, in coordination with the Office of the Civil Defense CALABARZON, conducted a 5-day Incident Command System (ICS) - Position Course at El Cielito Hotel, Santa Rosa City, Laguna on 29 July to 01 August 2024, attended by Laguna’s city and municipal DRRMO personnel.  The trainees were tasked to discuss, brainstorm, plan and decide on the operational activities to be done before responding. It also raised awareness on the different ICS positions being used in responding to disasters for them to be equipped with much needed knowledge, skills and attitude in managing disasters and planned events.
