 Gov. Sol Aragones Pushes Immediate School Clinic Improvements to Protect Laguna Students’ Health

“Nag iinspek po ako ngayon ng mga clinic ng mga eskwelahan dahil ang mahabang oras ng mga estudyante o mag aaral ay ginugugol nila sa school. Kaya importante, maayos at maganda ang clinic nila,” Governor Aragones said, emphasizing the importance of functional school clinics.““To ensure immediate support for learners, Governor Aragones directed concerned offices to prepare and roll out free medical, dental, and vision checkups within one month, giving schools and health teams a clear timeline to organize services that will directly benefit students and teachers across Laguna.““During the inspection, Governor Aragones observed that several basic requirements of a school clinic were missing, including first aid kits and over the counter medicines. Former Department of Health Undersecretary Dr. Eric Tayag also stressed the importance of proper monitoring of supplies. “Mag inventory tayo, kasi tignan mo yung isang tukador mukang nag aantay ng laman,” Dr. Tayag said.““The inspection further revealed the absence of running water inside the clinic. “So ito walang tubig, ano to, display lang,” Governor Aragones remarked, to which a staff member from Bitin Elementary School responded, “Nag iigib lang po kami.” The lack of water highlighted sanitation and emergency response concerns that directly affect students’ safety.““To directly benefit students and teachers, the provincial government announced free dental checkups and free vision screenings, with free eyeglasses to be provided if needed. ““These services will be conducted on a rotating basis across the province of Laguna, helping ensure early detection of health concerns and improved learning conditions, even as many schools continue to operate without a regular, full time school nurse.
