From Reflection to Action: MRB fellows craft plans to address institutional challenges

Laguna-More than just a learning session, the second part of the Mobilizing Responsible Builders (MRB) for Sustainable LSPU Leaders Fellowship Program 2.0 became a space for honest conversations, critical reflection, and concrete action among its fellows, April 8.
Held at the LSPU-Santa Cruz Campus CIHTM Function Hall, and anchored on the theme “Advancing Quality and Excellence: Fostering a Transformative Culture of Continuous Improvement in Higher Education,” the session moved beyond theory as participants examined what quality and excellence truly mean not only for the institution but also for themselves as leaders.
Throughout the day, fellows engaged in dynamic discussions that challenged them to look inward and outward at the same time. They reflected on their leadership roles while confronting the real issues faced by the university. From academic concerns to administrative challenges, the conversations surfaced a shared understanding that meaningful change begins with acknowledging gaps and working together to address them.
Their workshop became a turning point, as participants collaboratively mapped out key challenges across sectors. More importantly, they did not stop at identifying problems. Each group proposed actionable plans that may serve as the next steps toward resolving institutional concerns and strengthening overall operations.
In his closing remarks, Atty. Rushid Jay Sancon, Vice President for Academic Affairs shared his reflections on the importance of openness in leadership and governance.
“Ang pagtanggap na may problema ay ang unang hakbang upang malutas ito,” he shared, reinforcing the need for transparency and a collective willingness to improve.
He also commended the fellows for their active participation and meaningful contributions, recognizing their role in shaping a more responsive and progressive university.
This session aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 4: Quality Education and 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.(LSPU FB Page)
