Laguna to Open First-Ever Eye Center in July at Calamba City
Laguna-The provincial government of Laguna will establish its first-ever eye center this July at the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Memorial District Hospital in Calamba City, marking a major step in expanding accessible and affordable eye care services for residents across the province. The facility is expected to provide screening, treatment, and surgical services for common eye conditions such as cataracts, which remain a leading cause of preventable blindness among low income patients.““Governor Sol Aragones announced the project, emphasizing that many residents lose their vision due to untreated conditions and lack of financial capacity for surgery. The initiative aims to directly address this gap by bringing specialized eye care closer to communities. “Malinaw pa po sa sikat ng araw na magkakaroon ng kauna-unahang eye center sa lalawigan ng Laguna,” she said, adding, “May solusyon na tayo ngayon dito.”““The provincial government acknowledged that eye-related illnesses, particularly cataracts, often lead to worsening vision and blindness when left untreated due to cost barriers. With the upcoming facility, Laguna residents will have improved access to medical intervention and preventive care.““The eye center is expected to benefit senior citizens and vulnerable sectors who are most affected by vision problems but have limited access to specialized healthcare services.““Governor Aragones also reminded the public about the importance of discernment in leadership, saying: “Payo lang po, kinakailangan din maging malinaw ang inyong mga mata sa pagkilatis sa mga manunungkulan sa ating lalawigan yung nakikita ang pangangailangan ng taong bayan.”““The project is seen as a significant improvement in the province’s healthcare system, strengthening Laguna’s capacity to respond to long standing medical needs, particularly in eye health services.(PIO-Laguna)
