 Laguna Chest Center Conducts TB and HIV Awareness Campaign to Laguna Provincial Jail

Laguna-The Laguna Chest Center conducted a health awareness campaign providing essential healthcare services and raising awareness on infectious diseases among jail personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) held on July 16, at the Laguna Provincial Jail.““The activity was held in response to the request of the Laguna Provincial Jail to conduct lectures on Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) as part of its continuing efforts to promote disease prevention and early detection within the facility.“““Sa sampu ng ating mga kasamahan kami po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa ating mahal na Gobernador sa pagbibigay po ng kalinga sa ating mga PDL,” DPW Felix De Castro said.““As part of the campaign, the Laguna Chest Center offered Free Laboratory examinations, consultations, medicine distribution, and treatment services for infectious diseases such as Tuberculosis (TB), Leprosy, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS).““Medical assistance for non-infectious diseases was also offered for  hypertension and diabetes.““Lectures were also conducted about "TB in Jail: How It Is Transmitted and Treated," equipping participants with vital information on preventing the spread of tuberculosis and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.““Voluntary HIV testing was also available for free to interested PDLs with strict confidentiality observed throughout the screening process.(PIO-Laguna)
